Portable Fire Extinguishers and your Business We all know that it is important to have a maintained Portable Fire Extinguisher in your workplace as part of your OH&S programme. What you may not know is which type is suitable for your environment.
As a guide, the Fire Protection Association of Australia (FPAA) have released a chart which can be used to help you identify which type of extinguisher is suitable for you. The chart can be found here.
The NSW Rural Fire Service also have a document which provides greater detail on which type is required, where it should be mounted, and how it should be sign posted. This information can be found here.
Many insurers require servicing of your equipment on at least a six (6) monthly basis, so it is important to maintain your equipment. For more information on who can service your equipment correctly, visit the FPAA website.
